Can’t take the pace!

November 19th, 2008

I think I need a new pair of shoot shoes! These have truely had it.  That’s the problem with location and ’spur of the moment’ decisions ie; taking the team down a cliff or into a lake!  A pair of sturdy boots should do the trick.

Cat or Ghost?! The Merchants House

November 18th, 2008

On Location at the Merchants House, the little cat of 15 years old followed us from room to room.  She was quiet and almost creepy.  The Merchants House is booked out the majority of the year, imagine the teams of people this little cat has seen: Thousands in her lifetime.  There are tales of her fierce nature but she was like a cuddly lamb with the Carter-Bowman crew!   (The Merchants House @ MAX LOACTIONS)

ONE STEP TOO FAR!! Respect for Italian Vogue

November 13th, 2008

A recent editorial titled ‘Dogging’ photographed by Steven Meisel was rejected by Italian Vogue!!  This has already become headline news in the industry.  The entire story is shot in an amateur style and is outwardly explicit in it’s sexual content!  Vmagazine have bravely taken the story on.  However I shocked to see how many images they have used.  The one below is perhaps the only safe shot!  It’s certainly not for the office monitor! I have always been a massive fan of Steven Mesiel but there is nothing ground-breaking about these shots.  Do I withdraw the T-shirt!!! …..No…… every artist produces work that is occasionally not well received….. once in two decades is more than excusable!!  Just.

Winter Woods

Amanada Charlwood @ IMG

It seems winter is upon us and the days are truely freezing,  what locations will be in store for the coming months… A chartered flight to a desert island! There shall be no Spring/Summer editorials in the winter woods!  The above shots are from an August evening,… even then I remember it being icey! Amanada was like a wolf as we waited on the cliff-edge for the evening sun to appear.

I’m with Meisel !

November 9th, 2008

The introduction of editorial giants, Mert and Marcus, in Italian Vogue’s December issue was a brave and interesting move.  Could this be the ‘beginning of end’ to Meisel’s front cover domination?  How long before someone takes over from the world’s most influential fashion photographer?  Months, years or another decade?!

The t-shirt is a shared joke, between a certain french/Italian photographer and I, from the days when we would plaster Italian Vogue tear-sheets all over our walls.

Mysterious and intriguing.

Absolute Over-kill!! No wonder the latest English Vogue is engulfed in gold!  As usual I flicked straight to the editorials, always eager to see if my home-nation’s version can ever compare to the Italian and Parisian ‘bibles.’  Once in a blue moon!  Editorials aside, the over-whelming luxury is in fact brilliant!  If I won the lottery tomorrow it would be spent by sunset!  From the Secret Address Book to Story Time, Present Perfect to Wander Lust, Out of this World to Karl Lagerfield’s illustrations.  A Sunday night’s quiet train journey and I’m in total agreement with Kate Moss: “Fashion is my passion.”  This issue deserves it’s title of FANTASTIC.  Bring on Christmas and screw the Recession.
